About Invictus Sports

Invictus Sports was founded in August 2009 in Indianapolis, Indiana by Christopher Hendrix-Buxton as a result to his work with the Indiana Explosion, a local youth basketball club. But the company foundation should really be credited to his wife , who was on her internship at a local school in Indianapolis, and a school administrator, who happened to also be an basketball coach and director of the Explosion. The coach was looking for a way to improve his girls’ basketball team. Shannon, Mr. Hendrix-Buxton’s wife, mentioned the success her husband was having with the program he created for his personal training with the Nike track team.
The coach asked Mr. Hendrix-Buxton to work out with the basketball team, which lead directly to success on the court, to include an unexpected win at a major tournament at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Hendrix-Buxton was asked by another coach to work with his team, upon the suggestion of the Explosion Director, with even more spectacular results. After a very successful season, the coaches urged Mr. Hendrix-Buxton to expand his knowledge into a structured effort and form a company to deliver his innovative program to the entire club of 20 teams. So Invictus Sports was born.
The Invictus Sports program is designed to complement the skills training provided at practice geared towards a specific sport and is designed to give those skills their best chance. At Invictus, our goal is to help your child and team exceed their own expectations by creating an athlete, not a technician of a particular sport.
This program revolves around knowledge of the developing body in specific age groups and its natural biomechanical movements – then adapts and refines that knowledge to develop sport-specific athletic enhancements. Although not designed to improve sport specific skills (such as shooting free throws or kicking field goals), the drills enhance and strengthen sports-related movements and techniques. Skill requirements for specific sports are incorporated into tailored drills that assist the athlete’s individual improvement as a member of a team sport. The combined effect is a marked improvement in the student athlete’s self-confidence and awareness of potential.
Today Invictus Sports is working with more than 250 student athletes in the central Indiana region. If you would like to see Invictus Sports in your area, please let us know using this form.
